. . Official Rules . .
for the
National Egg Throwing Championships
held at Tandridge

Open to everyone - 3 classes - All-comers, Ladies, Juniors (under age 16)
Use real hens eggs supplied only by the Fete committee.
Make a pair - one to throw and one to catch.
Each thrower buys 3 eggs @ £1.50 (children £1)
Thrower throws at one end ~ partner catches at the other end.
The winners are the pair who throw the longest distance and catch the egg without dropping or cracking it.

Further tries may be made by purchasing 3 more eggs @ £1.50 but can only be thrown after at least one other pair have competed.
It will normally be expected that competitors go to the back of the queue if further tries are intended.

The Brown Cup (held for a year)
is awarded for the longest successful throw of any class.

It is a foul if the Thrower crosses the marked line before releasing the egg.
It is a foul if the Thrower breaks the egg during the throw.
It is a foul if the Catcher drops the thrown egg.
It is a foul if the Thrower or Catcher cracks the egg.
A foul applies only to that throw - any remaining throws may be still be taken.

In any dispute, the decision of the appointed member of the Fete committee running the championships is final.
